PRESS RELEASE

Jim Norton's new stand-up comedy special Contextually Inadequate is 57 minutes of Norton addressing the topics of the day including workplace shootings, Bill Cosby, personal privacy, the art of the dick pic, and the importance of strap-ons. If that wasn't enough this DVD also includes 9 minutes of bonus material never before seen on television.

Norton is a New Jersey native best known for his unique point of view and outspoken humor. As a comedian he has toured the country performing in front of sold out crowds. He is a New York Times best-selling author, radio personality, and television host. Each day Jim is listened to by millions of devoted fans on the Opie & Jim Norton Radio Show for Sirius/XM Radio, which began over a decade ago in 2000. Jim is a re-occurring guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and frequents the late night talk show circuit as well with credits including The Late Show with David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Jim’s first book, HAPPY ENDINGS: The Tales of a Meaty-Breasted Zilch was published in July 2007. It spent several weeks on the bestseller list, which serves as a testament to his growing popularity. This New York Times best-seller is a collection of Jim’s personal journal entries, raunchy sex stories, embarrassing star sightings, and pathetic childhood memories. Jim’s second book, I Hate Your Guts, also became a New York Times best-seller upon its release in November 2008.

On television, Jim hosted HBO’s Down and Dirty with Jim Norton. Jim starred in two of his own one hour specials, Please Be Offended and Monster Rain. He also co-starred in HBO’s Lucky Louie as well as in Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. As indicated above, he has performed on many of the late night talk shows and had a half-hour special on HBO’s One Night Stand, and has been featured on both Jimmy Kimmel Live and Last Call with Carson Daly. Jim has also been seen in several episodes of Louie on FX, as well as roasts of Bob Saget, Zakk Wylde and Gene Simmons.

In addition to radio, books, TV and touring, Jim has released three prior CDs of his stand-up comedy: 2002’s Yellow Discipline, 2003’s Trinkets I Own Made From Gorilla Hands, and 2011's Despicable.

Jim’s first inkling and inspiration to becoming a comedian came at age 12 when he saw Richard Pryor’s special Richard Pryor: Live in Concert. He wound up in rehab at 17, dropped out of high school the next year, then started signing up for open-mic nights at local bars at 21. Often pegged as an ‘angry comic’ because of his raunchy brand of humor, Jim argues the only labels in comedy that truly matter are ‘funny,’ ‘original,’ and ‘hack.’

He is currently living in New York City.
